PLYR Golf – Product Review
Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, PLYR is a sports brand just as much as it’s a golf brand. We want to create a PLYR lifestyle that extends well beyond the golf course. We feel the name PLYR best represents what we want to do as a company.
Started in 2015, PLYR Golf is a new and trendy Saskatchewan golf brand.
While in golf, ‘player’ is often slang for a great golfer, ‘PLYR’ is made for everyone. PLYR isn’t only for scratch golfers, or golfers for that matter. Simply put, PLYR is a lifestyle brand that extends beyond the golf course.
Based in Saskatoon, Chase Porter and Brandon Kuse started the brand with the intentions of having a casual golf brand that extended beyond the golf course. The two – who have both worked in various Saskatoon golf course backshops – have noticed the change to a more casual golf lifestyle. Porter commented, “The majority of guys our age aren’t coming out to try and break the course record, they’re coming out to have a good time with their buddies. Most of these guys are wearing their T-Shirts, Flip-Flops, and have music playing in their carts.” While this casual lifestyle may not be meant for the private country clubs, the two do believe this movement to a casual golfing lifestyle is here to stay. “We’re trying to reach out to the increasing demographic of golfers that come out after work or come out on the weekends to play with their buddies, and we feel not enough golf brands today are targeting that demographic” says Porter.
In an effort to reach the casual golfer, PLYR offers a variety of casual clothing items such as t-shirts, hoodies and various styles of hats. They aren’t limited to that however, as they now offer a few different styles of golf polo’s, zip-up golf jackets, and a range of golf accessories including head covers, towels and scorecard holders. The PLYR brand is hard to miss, as most of their products feature big bold logos that stretch across the shirt or hat.
In their first full golf season, PLYR is being sold primarily online, as well as featured in a handful of different pro-shops across Saskatchewan. As the brand continues to grow both in Saskatchewan and out of province, the two hope to be able to develop into a full golf lifestyle brand, offering clothing from head to toe.
Product Review
One of the hottest Golf Brands to hit the market in 2016 was Saskatoon-based company PLYR Golf.
Owners Chase Porter and Brandon Kuse officially launched the PLYR Golf lineup of products in April, 2016, and have seen their products roll out to the public in 6 Pro Shops throughout Saskatchewan. Over 70 of the top Amateur golfers throughout the province were first introduced to the products at the 2016 Scotia Wealth Open in Nipawin, where PLYR Golf offered up a fantastic tee gift for all of the “PLYR’s”.
As with any new Golf Company, there can be unexpected obstacles that can impede the growth and market penetration, but PLYR Golf in our eyes has successfully proven itself. Throughout the entire summer of 2016, PLYR Golf apparel, hats and accessories went viral. Obstacles avoided!
One of the best things about the PLYR Golf offerings is the high quality and “trend factor” of each and every product. We have personally put the T-shirt to the test by washing it multiple times this summer, and it continues to maintain it’s crisp logo. Our “Editor’s Pick” for fav product is the PLYR Golf Headcover…durable, well-priced and a great looking addition to any golf bag! Along with the high standards that Chase and Brandon have set for the products, they also appeal to the masses due to the perfectly targeted price points of the entire product line.
The timing of the PLYR Golf introduction to the golfing community couldn’t be better as “Casual Golf Apparel” is one of the popular trends in golf right now find the best richmond air cinditioning repair service. PLYR Golf plans to bring in some Ladies products within the next year and the 2017 year is already shaping up to be another huge success for this fantastic new company.
PLYR Golf attended the PGA of Alberta Buying Show recently and the support from the PGA of Alberta Golf Courses and Professionals was overwhelming. Next up is attending the PGA of Saskatchewan Buying Show in Saskatoon the week of October 24th. Great work “PLYR’s”!
